گزشتہ سال کے ہلاکت خیز زلزلے کی پہلی برسی کے موقع پر متاثرہ علاقوں میں اپنے عزیزوں کی قبروں پر دعا کرنے والوں میں بچوں کی ایک بڑی تعداد شامل تھی۔ مظفرآباد کے ایک قبرستان میں دعا کرتی ہوئی یہ بچی بھی انہیں میں سے ایک ہے۔ آٹھ اکتوبر کو صدر جنرل مشرف اور وزیراعظم کی مظفرآباد میں آمد کی وجہ سے مقامی لوگوں کو خاصی دقت اٹھانا پڑی اور کئی لوگوں نے بی بی سی کے نام نگار کو بتایا کہ انہیں اس بات کا بہت دکھ ہے کہ سکیورٹی اہلکاروں نے انہیں اپنے عزیزوں کی قبروں پر جانے سے بھی روکے رکھا۔

North Korea says to do nuclear test in future

PYONGYANG: North Korea said Tuesday it would conduct a nuclear test to bolster its self-defense against what it calls increasing U.S. hostility toward the regime.

"The DPRK will in the future conduct a nuclear test in a condition where safety is firmly guaranteed," the North's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The U.S. extreme threat of a nuclear war and sanctions and pressure compel the DPRK to conduct a nuclear test, an essential process for bolstering nuclear deterrent, as a self-defense measure in response," said the statement carried by the North's official news agency.

The North said Tuesday its ultimate goal is ``to settle hostile relations between the DPRK and the U.S. and to remove the very source of all nuclear threats from the Korean Peninsula and its vicinity,'' accusing the U.S. of posing a nuclear threat in the region.

The North, however, said it will ``never use nuclear weapons first and strictly prohibit any threat of nuclear weapons and nuclear transfer,'' defending its nuclear weapons as a protection from ``the U.S. threat of aggression'' and a measure ``to safeguard peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.''

BD200 is new minimum wage for Bahrainis

The minimum wage for Bahraini workers in the private sector has been set at BD200 per month, it was revealed yesterday. Labour Minister Dr Majeed Al Alawi said his ministry is working on raising wages of the 18,000 Bahrainis in the private sector on the directives of His Majesty King Hamad. Dr Al Alawi claimed the ministry was able to employ 12, 400 Bahrainis, 80 per cent of job-seekers, during the first nine months of the National Employment Project. He said minimum wages for expats working in the private sector had not been set yet, because of the fear of a major surge in repatriation of funds from Bahrain. Dr Al Alawi hailed the co-operation of businessmen in job creation.

نواب کی حکمرانی

نواب کی حکمرانی تھی جو دراصل ایک چھوٹی سی سلطنت کا بادشاہ تھا۔

ایک سول سرونٹ نے نواب بگٹی سے کہا تھا’میرے پاس اچھی خبر ہے۔ حکومت نے آپ کے علاقے میں سکول کھولنے کے لیئے فنڈز مختص کیئےہیں‘۔

نواب نے جواب دینے میں دیر نہیں لگائی ’میں سکول نہیں کھولنا چاہتا۔ کل آنا میں بتاؤں گا کہ میں ایسا کیوں چاہتا ہوں‘۔

اگلے روز نواب نے اپنے مہمان کو ایک بندوق دی۔ ’ہم بطخ کے شکار پر جارہے ہیں۔ کچھ ہی دیر بعد نواب بطخوں کا شکار مکمل کرچکے تھے۔ یہ بطخیں برف کی طرح سرد پانی کے حوض میں چھوڑ دی گئیں۔ پھر انہوں نے سیٹی بجائی۔

یہ ایک حکم تھا۔ جو لوگ شکار پر ان کے ساتھ تھے وہ برفیلے پانی میں کود گئے اور بطخیں جمع کرنے لگے۔ پھر گیلے شلوار قمیض کے ساتھ وہ بطخیں نواب کے معائنے کے لیئے لانے لگے۔

نواب اپنے مہمان کی طرف مڑے۔ ’مجھے تمھیں مایوس کرنے کا افسوس ہے۔ لیکن کیا تمھارے خیال میں اگر یہ لوگ سکول گئے ہوتے تو یوں میرے حکم کی تعمیل کرتے۔ سکول کا خیال دل سے نکال دو‘۔
